Kanokwai Judo Club

Providing judo skills and judo values to help give each person lifeskills that will stay with them.

Our Story & Ethos

Kanokwai Judo Club was originally run by coaches at the YMCA in Coatbridge. When the club closed due to work and personal commitments, Thomas Renicks decided in 1992 to establish his own judo club for the local community.

The previous Kanokwai coaches invited him to continue using the club’s name, and over 30 years later, Kanokwai Judo Club is still going strong. Today, it is proudly run by Thomas, Louise, and Kimberly Renicks as a family-led community club.

Our ethos is to give back to the community by providing opportunities for athletes and families who attend the club. Through local grants, fundraising, and sponsorship, we work hard to create pathways and opportunities for all.
